2022 Honors Convocation and Commencement



 

On Friday, May 6, Centenary’s annual Honors Convocation kicked off Commencement weekend for the Class of 2022. Graduating seniors and other students received academic and co-curricular awards during this ceremony held in the Gold Dome.

 


 

And then, the main event: Commencement exercises for the Centenary College Class of 2022!

Some stats on the Class of 2022:

  • 55 students received institutional honors

  • Nine graduated with a perfect 4.0

  • 13 Students received departmental honors, including one student who received two departmental honors

  • One student received the prestigious ACS Accredited Chemistry Degree

  • Ten students earned double majors

  • Nine students earned dual degrees

  • 40% of undergraduates played a sport

  • Four Legatees

  • One staff member child – Joseph Holmes (Son of staff member Nikki Holmes)

  • One international student – Richard Polan (Czech Republic)

  • 12 states represented: Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, New Mexico, Tennessee, and Texas

  • 23 Louisiana parishes represented

 

The Class of 2022 and their guests heard from Community Renewal International founder, Rev. Mack McCarter, who also received an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters during the ceremony, and from fellow classmate Itzel Sigaran. Shreveport’s Second Line Brass Band led the newly-minted Centenary alumni out of the Gold Dome with a surprise “second line” procession.
