Centenary’s new Bicentennial Village on track to open in August
Centenary College’s new residences, known as Bicentennial Village, are on track to open in August. Two buildings will be completed by August 1, 2025. The other two will open shortly after that.
Currently, workers are putting brick on the exterior of the buildings. SWEPCO and the City of Shreveport are connecting utilities to them. Workers will soon start constructing parking lots and sidewalks.
“As the first new residential construction in many years, this is a visible sign of the growth of Centenary. We are very excited to offer new options for our students to enjoy the benefits of living on campus,” said Dr. Christopher Holoman, president of Centenary College of Louisiana.
The Village, commemorating Centenary’s bicentennial being celebrated this year, is comprised of four 3-story buildings and can house 84 to 96 students depending on configuration. Each floor offers six bedrooms, three bathrooms, and a large shared living area. The kitchens are equipped with full-size appliances; each room will have a small refrigerator, and each floor has its own washer and dryer. The first floors of each building are fully accessible for students with mobility challenges.
Plans are underway for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially open the apartment-style structures to students. The date and details will be released later.
