Ladies Volleyball

Jaycie Proctor

The Ladies finished 10-24 overall (0-16 in SCAC play) and were once again one of the top teams in the country in total digs, recording an impressive 2,022.

Senior DS/L Jaycie Proctor (Paris, Texas) finished her career as one of the top players in the Division III era (2011-present) in program history in her record-breaking three seasons with the Ladies. Proctor recorded a whopping 558 digs this season and averaged 4.93 digs per set as she played in 32 matches and 113 sets. She finished her stellar career with 1,112 digs, fourth-most in the D3 era, and her 558 this season are the second-most in a single season in the D3 era. She is also the career leader in digs per set (4.56). Proctor ranked second in the conference in digs and in the top 35 in the country in all of Division III.

Proctor was named to the College Sports Communicators 2022 Volleyball Academic All-District ®Team after the season.

The 2022 Academic All‐District® Women's Volleyball Team, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognizes the nation's top student‐athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. Gents Soccer

Jaron Petreas

The Gents landed a record-setting four players on the 2022 All-SCAC Men's Soccer Team this past season. The four all-conference selections are the Gents' most since joining the SCAC prior to the 2012 season. Senior MF Jaron Petreas (Denton, Texas), senior GK Sami Borchalli (Lafayette, Louisiana ), freshman F Aaron Myers (Plano, Texas) and freshman D Mackenzie Soul (Shreveport, Louisiana) earned spots on the team as Petreas was named to the Second Team, Borchalli earned Honorable-Mention honors, and Soul and Myers each earned spots on the All-Freshman Team. Myers and Soul join their teammate, sophomore F Dylan Allred (Lafayette, Louisiana) as the only players to be named to the SCAC All-Freshman Team in program history. Centenary placed at least two players on the All-SCAC team for the sixth time.

Petreas ended his time with the Gents ranked second in career goals (12), tied for third in assists (6), second in points (30), first in shots (93), and tied for third in game-winning goals (3). He started all 59 matches that he played in and scored seven goals this past season – tied for second-most in a single-season in the Division III era.

Borchalli finished his superb Gents' career as the D3 era leader in career shutouts (14) and saves (415) and set a single-match record for saves with 17 on Oct. 23 at home versus Trinity – appropriately occurring on his Senior Day. Borchalli held the previous record of 16 saves, set on October 7, 2018, also against Trinity. He finished his career with a .750 save % and played in 72 matches, starting 70. Both Borchalli and Petreas have been named to the SCAC Student-Athlete Academic Honor Roll every year during their careers.

Myers had a memorable collegiate debut this past season as he scored a pair of goals in Centenary's season-opening 5-0 win at home over Dallas Christian on September 1. He became just the 12th Centenary player in the D3 era to score two goals in a game and finished the season with four goals (tied for second on the team) and eight points while playing in 11 matches and making five starts. His other two goals came on September 23 against McMurry and October 21 at home versus Schreiner.

Soul started all 15 matches that he played in and blossomed into one of the conference's top defenders as a rookie in addition to scoring one goal – on September 25 against Texas-Dallas. Soul was one of the leaders of a Gents' back line that recorded four shutouts and held their opponents to two goals or less eight times during the season.

Petreas was named the 2022 SCAC Men's Soccer Elite 19 award winner after the season. He currently holds a cumulative GPA of 4.00 in Economics with a minor in legal studies and is now the first two-time SCAC Men's Soccer Elite 19 winner, previously winning during the COVID shortened 2020-21 season. He was also named to the College Sports Communicators 2022 Academic All-District ®Team. The 2022 Academic All-District® Men's Soccer Team, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
